Traverse City nightlife is alive and well in northern Michigan. You can start the night with dinner and drinks then take in a show at the State Theatre stop at a club for some dancing then finish the night off with a drink at an outdoor rooftop bar.
Dine at one of the dozens of great restaurants throughout the greater Traverse City area. Traverse City restaurants have really raised the bar in the last 10 years by providing many farm to table offerings to fill you with local fresh ingredients. Little Fleet is the food truck lot which provides a great variety of food items for people with many different likes. This open-air outdoor food experience is one you don’t want to miss. The food is great and the overall experience is a lot of fun. This area is just east of the downtown area and can be reached on foot or a short drive by car or Uber.
Horizon Books located just east of the State Theatre is a great spot to find a few good books while you wait for your table at Red Ginger which is located between Horizons and the State Theatre. Red Ginger offers many great dishes to choose from, but my favorite is Thai Curry with shrimp and chicken. Go directly across the street to Georgia’s and try one of their amazing Latin dishes; Ropa Viega or the Pollo a la Plancha. You can’t go wrong with either dish.
The State Theatre is a great location to take in a first-run movie before or after dinner. This old theatre has a lot of character which provides a great atmosphere for taking in a great movie with your date.
A short drive north through the Old Mission Peninsula over the rolling hills of vineyards and fields with beautiful views of the east and west bay on your way to the Jolly Pumpkin Restaurant and Brewery for some of the best food and drink Traverse City has to offer.
Traverse City is the second-largest city on Lake Michigan with the large twin bays. Taking a stroll down by the water at Clinch Marina where you can see the entire south end of the west bay and out in the distance is Marian Island. There are a bike path and a tunnel that goes under US31 and connects to downtown Traverse City.
Traverse City downtown area shopping and restaurants are some of the best Michigan has to offer. Some of the many grand restaurants to choose from include; Red Ginger, Mama Lu’s, Georgia’s and a short stroll away are Bubba’s and the many food trucks.
Shopping in downtown Traverse City offers a variety of stores. Boyne County Sports, M22, Cherry Republic and Glick’s are just a few of these stores. If you’re looking for a great place to get a haircut, check out Jude’s Barbershop – Traverse City.
Overall Traverse City Michigan is great to spend a night out with so many great things to do and see.
